That’s right, Dungeons & Dragons Yoga.
Resolute Fitness and Gazzang will host D&D Yoga at South by Southwest on Saturday, March 8th. This event was created by artist Scott Wayne Indiana and is free and open to the public, although space is limited, so please arrive by 12pm. Yoga mats will be provided, but please bring your own if you can!
D&D Yoga: the idea that these two activities and communities don’t have much in common turns out to be untrue. For this guided adventure players are given a 10 sided die and a character sheet as they enter the space. They embodied a single character, “…a roguish rugged individual who has run afoul of the local law. You are given the opportunity to be absolved of your crimes. Your task at hand is to take this package to the ancient temple in the nearby forest and leave it in its proper place.”
Sam and Megan from Resolute Fitness will lead this 60 minute class alongside a local Austin dungeon master.
While spending a weekend at an ashram in upstate NY, artist Scott Wayne Indiana participated in regular yoga sessions as well as guided meditation. During the weekend he came up with the idea that a guided narrative could be fun to listen to during yoga. Taking it a step further to involve some interaction, the idea was born to mashup D&D and yoga. SWI’s work can be seen HERE.

Yoga is your time to turn inward so we ask that students leave phones and belongings outside the yoga room and silence all electronics. In order to maximize your practice, we ask yogis to practice quietly and meditatively. Should you have a question, please feel free to silently speak to the instructor for modifications.
